Images of people make up the bulk of my photography and certainly entertain most my intense curiosity in others. At the same time, people present a greater challenge. They are ever changing and full of emotions. People put on many different "faces" and can quickly change them when they see a camera. Often, it is simply the art to catch the "look" before they catch on to you.

Wedding Photography has a way of combining both of these aspects of photography. There are moments when the photographer has complete control over the situation, such as the formals. The ceremony itself is usually meticulously planned and yet the unexpected can always happen. During the reception, there is a lot of freedom to move around and the subjects loosen up a bit. This is the time for great candids.

Event Photography is in some ways similar to a wedding, but then often minus the white dress. This could include bitrthdays, graduations, a bar mitzvah or a baptism. The list is literally endless.

Portrait photography on the other hand presents a situation where the subject is overly aware of the presence of a camera (and lights and props etc). Portrait photography however allows more lattitude in terms of artistic license. A portrait can capture someone as they are or present them in a new light, give them a new face.

Glamour photography takes portrait photography in a different direction. Instead of trying necessarily to portray the subject as they are, glamour photography gives more space to be creative with make-up, hair and typically ends up with a much more stylized look.

Sports is one of the more challenging areas of photography, but as I have two boys who excell at Basketball, I have also been working on my high speed shooting techniques.

They say "a picture is worth a thousand words". One of the strengths of photography is the ability to tell a story without words. This is also referred to as Documentary photography.

Candid photography has a certain spontenaity to it which often shows you people as they are, being themselves.
