Last weekend, Willeke and I had, for the first time in 15 years, a chance to spend a long weekend in a foreign city. Actually two cities. By way of Madrid, Spain, our EasyJet flight brought us to Lisbon, Portugal. Just outside of Lisbon, in and around Sintra, we were guests at the wedding of Marijn and Eva Bergsma, Almost everywhere one looked, there were scenes just begging to be photographed, and in some way, the images seemed to be custom created for the iPhone App: Hipstomatic! This is the first time I have captured almost all my vacation photos on an iPhone, and let me tell you, it was a lot of fun. So much that I sometimes wondered why I had this 3000 Euro camera hanging around my neck at all.

Of course, the “High-end” camera came into its own during the wedding itself, although I have to say, even there, I was impressed with how the iPhone held up. After a great few days in Portugal, it was time to head back to the Netherlands, but not before a long layover in Madrid. So we put the bags in storage and jumped on the subway, headed into town for a walk and some coffee. As seen through the lens of the iPhone, it was a very “nostalgic” visit. One we will remember fondly…

For their day, Marijn and Eva chose the beautiful country of Portugal, Eva’s home surroundings. The guests were treated to a picture perfect feast for the eyes with this amazing couple in the city of Sintra, a renowned World Heritage site location and its’ neighboring village of Colares. One can but smile at the stunning beauty of this bride and groom in their fairy tale surroundings.

Mondays are my day off from monotony, but last Monday was a break from the breaks! I had a great reason to pack my bags (just one) and catch the first flight to Madrid. Upon arrival, I met up with Cecily and Jason, a fun loving couple, willing to  take me up on the offer of a One-Day-European-Photo-Shoot! And what a shoot it was. Hot and tiring, but worth every kilo lost. Thanks Cecily and Jason for allowing me this opportunity!
